redwhiteblue and the infinite spectrum of communications it offers

The work [redwhiteblue]∞ is the beginning of this iconic series. 15 years have passed and the tri-color pattern is still constantly reinventing itself, spurring new dialogues and cultural exchanges. The back to the future / redwhiteblue vase series are objects of paradoxy. They play on the polar opposites of classicism and contemporaneity, toughness and fragility, luxury and economy, and decorativeness and functionality. The work illuminates the designer’s recurrent approach of restaging popular iconology of classical Chinese art in a contemporary rendition. This redemptive gesture evokes a positive, hopeful and “going forward” attitude. Coupling with the redwhiteblue piece, the back to the future / salute to alessi / Alessandro Mendini vase is a tribute to Italian design perfection, specially designed for Confluence · 20+ (Milan-Edition).
